Fixed vs Growth/Agile Mindset

This activity helps us identify our mindset, by mindset means what is our established set of attitudes and habits towards succeeding when there is uncertainty.

An agile or growth mindset is an attitude that equates failure and problems with opportunities for learning, a belief that we can all improve over time, that our abilities are not fixed but evolve with effort (Linda Rising, 2015).

On the other hand, a fixed mindset believes that basic skills, intelligence, and qualities are inherent and fixed. And those are set from birth. There is not much one can do about it. They don’t see the point of putting the efforts to learn.

The following activity contains a list of mindset related observations. Drag and drop each item to the appropriate section.

In addition, agile mindset can be exhibited by teams or individuals If they have the following attitude towards the work:

  • Think WE instead of ME
  • Never stop learning, and making progress
  • Delivery of small successes
  • Expert imperfection
  • Go for user’s value
  • Trust people (they know how to do their job)
  • Listen
  • Don’t write a long email, talk to people
  • Keep things simple
  • Be open, accept others view and
  • Embrace change
